THE FUTURE LOST IN PLASTIC

Exploration of 1950s Design to Address Modern Issues

THE PROJECT

Provoke reflection on the amount of microplastics that are used and consumed by society daily using optimistic advertising from the 1950s.

In this project, I tackle the issue of microplastics through satire, blending humor and critique to highlight the environmental impact of single-use plastics. Inspired by the optimistic advertising styles of the 1950s, I juxtapose a retro aesthetic with an apocalyptic message to show the absurdity of plastic consumption. Drawing on the historical irony of 1950s consumerism, when plastics were celebrated as revolutionary, my work critiques how these materials now threaten the planet.

Made using Procreate, Photoshop, and InDesign.
